Does What Happens in Vegas Always Stay in Vegas?

Actually, not this week!  Las Vegas plays host to some of the most cutting-edge and glamorous conventions in the United States of America.  Yesterday, January 28th, over 150 companies converged on the Planet Hollywood Hotel for AppForum 2013 – a conference for emerging digital printing technology.  AppForum’s presenters and vendors put on a grand display of the newest disruptive technology in the printing industry today.

According to the director of this trade show, Dave Erlandson, “This Year’s AppForum will renew its focus on innovation and on emerging and future technologies… Owners and executives come to [AppForum] to get updated on the latest trends and opportunities before they set their strategies for the new year.”

Over the three day conference, the team at ABGPrint.com will be keeping their eyes on the new products like collateral management services, cloud technology, digital packaging and variable data printing innovations that are all making their debut on the Vegas Strip.  Dynamic panel discussions on topics like digital solutions and innovations in interactive printing have caught ABGPrint.com’s management team’s attention much more than the blackjack tables; for bringing the newest technology to our customers is something ABGPrint.com does not see as a gamble.

5 Client Tips for Prepress Success

ABGPrint.com prides itself on being New York City’s top 24 hour printing service.  The stellar staff at our Midtown West facilities is here to help you around the clock, on the dot.  Working with ABGPrint.com is simple, just upload your print-ready PDF file to ABG’s cloud-based printing service and we will print, bind, finish and deliver your documents in less than 24 hours to within just 4 hours.  But what if there are issues with your document’s formatting?  We have that covered too!  Our highly trained Graphic’s Department will help you with proofing, formatting and document sizing.  Quick changes are totally doable, but we can make the process even faster with the help of our clients.

Our excellent Client Services Team has made a list of a few simple steps to make sure that your files are perfect for our presses!

1.       Create prepress files with the right program.

Always use prepress software such as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign to create prepress files.  Using Microsoft PowerPoint or Microsoft Word to create a prepress file for printing professional marketing materials such as brochures, catalogs or direct mail can, and often will, lead to disastrous results.

2.      Send the proper file type to the printer.

Different printing companies will have different requirements for the type of file they want to use. Some printers will want a high resolution PDF file, others want the original Illustrator or InDesign file, and others may prefer something else entirely. It is always a good idea to talk to the printing company you will be using before starting the project to prevent having to redo any work.

3.      Be aware of printing limitations.

While many printing companies are similar in many respects, their actual equipment can vary dramatically. Some printers with smaller presses may not be able to print a given project as well as a printer with a larger press.  Some printers may be better equipped than others to handle complex folds or running a fifth or sixth color. Be sure to check your printer’s capabilities before you send over the prepress files for printing.

4.      Outline all text.

Outline all text within the prepress file so there are no font issues.  Font files may work fine for you while working on the project, but there can be problems with the fonts printing correctly when pre-press files are sent to the printer. By outlining all text in the prepress file, you eliminate any need to send font files with your job and all text will print correctly.

5.      Convert all RGB files to CMYK.

A common problem printers have is that they receive a file that is set up for four-color process printing (CMYK), but the support files they receive (such as photographs) are in RGB format. This discrepancy will create delays in printing, additional costs to convert the file to the proper format, may lead to problems printing the project, and can affect the final document’s outcome.

ABG Print Works with Japanese Company to Implement Environmentally Sustainable Strategy

New York City’s Leading 24 Hour Printing Company Adds Konica Minolta Digital Press to Increase Productivity and Environmental Sustainability

New York, New York-April 4, 2011- ABG Print announced today that its New York City based print facility is adding a new state-of-the art digital printing press to join its growing suite of printing and binding technology. The new equipment will help ABG Print handle a variety of print projects that require careful color definition and a sharp, high quality finish. To achieve these results, ABG Print selected Japanese company Konica Minolta after an extensive and in-depth evaluation of digital print technology.

“Today printing companies need to be creative with the way they work and the technology they use,” said Michael J. Mulligan, President of ABG Print. “Working with a company like Konica Minolta puts us on the right playing field. The company’s outlook aligns well with ours; the company empowers customers with technology and innovation. Technology is what promotes efficiency and change fast in today’s marketplace.”

The new Konica Minolta digital press will give ABG’s customers the opportunity to print materials that yield offset results with clean and solid colors, no striations and discoloration, an effect that is often produced by traditional digital presses. Further, the press’s polymerized toners are designed to come on smooth and flat; the toner also uses a special formula to reproduce ultra-fine image detail.

“We decided to work with Konica Minolta because their equipment supports a wide variety of stocks and textures,” said Mr. Mulligan. “One of our goals this year as a business is to produce more varieties of print media in less time and with less waste and effects to our environment. Konica Minolta is the right choice for this; their research and development aligns with the most up-to-date environmental standards.”

Konica Minolta was established in 2003 after a powerful and strategic merger of two Japanese imaging firms Konica and Minolta. The company is now known as a manufacturer of office equipment, medical imaging, graphic imaging, optical devices and measuring instruments. Its main headquarters are located in Tokyo Japan with sales offices worldwide including its Konica Minolta Business Solutions headquarters in Ramsey, New Jersey. The company’s growth stems from years of innovation, research and development of sustainable business systems and principles.

In a March 2011 company press release, Kevin Kern, Senior Vice President of Marketing, Konica Minolta Business Solutions U.S.A., Inc said, “Throughout our long and storied history, Konica Minolta has been a global leader in developing best practices and technologies designed with the environment in mind – saving energy, minimizing pollution and reducing environmental impact through the entire life cycle of our products.”

Early this year, Konica Minolta won major awards for its sound environmental standards and practices. On February 4th 2011 Konica Minolta was recognized as the 2011 Global 100 Most Sustainable Corporations in the World and on March 8th 2011 the company was awarded the SAM Silver Class which recognizes companies that support environmental sustainability. A pioneer in developing eco-friendly technologies and business culture, Konica Minolta plans to reduce its CO2 emissions by 20% by 2015 and 80% by 2050.

“Companies are much different today; they are no longer just concerned with speed and quality, they want to make sure they have a positive impact on their environment,” said Mr. Mulligan. “Sustainability starts with the technology and materials you use. Customers want to know that the inks they use are environmentally safe, that their stock is recycled and that their materials are printed the most efficient way.”

ABG Print is working hard to create a sustainable culture for its staff and customers. It recognizes that a company not only needs to provide quality, fast service at competitive prices, but it needs to provide eco-friendly options. As a first step, ABG Print recently developed a relationship with Japanese company Toyo Ink Group, and plans to use its solvent-free and soy-based inks in its Long Island City offset facility.

“We want to push our business to new limits,” said Mr. Mulligan. “Konica Minolta will help us get there by accommodating a variety of project types which increase print output and decrease our carbon footprint.”

New York City Color Printing in Just 4 Hours

Print, bind and finish professional color pages in as little as 4 hours in NYC

Color Printing in New York City

Color printing, binding and finishing can be a simple and professional experience when working with the right printer. Color printing  isn’t just about ink on paper anymore; it is about the service that stands behind it. In today’s workplace typical office hours exceed the traditional 9 to 5 and employees are collaborating more on projects. These two factors lend themselves to working with vendors that embody the same work ethic, culture and flexible hours.

At ABG Print, there is no such thing as 9 to 5! With a 24 hour operation, clients and customers can complete printing projects at any time of the day (and, yes this includes delivery as well). Further, customers and clients can work with a flexible turn around time, as most printing projects can be completed (printed, bound and finished) in as little as 4 hours.

Around the Clock. On the Dot.

ABG’s background stems from 20 years of working with the investment banking industry where clients are often working against the clock at odd hours of the night. Materials come in as late as 2am and are needed the next day by 8am. ABG’s routine has not changed as it continues to work with the investment banking industry and new verticals that include: other capital management companies, fashion, retail, event planning and technology. Over the past 10 years, ABG has discovered just that: employees everywhere are in the need of flexible color printing solutions in NYC as the corporate climate continues to change becoming more competitive and agile.
